My husband and I grew up about a mile away from each other but we didn't meet until we were adults. We graduated from the same high school, him in 2003 and myself in 2006. Our mothers actually know each other and they are part of the reason why we met.
He was home on leave and his family threw him a BBQ to celebrate his 10 years of service in the Army. My mom was invited and she brought me along with her. I had no idea that day would change my life forever.
My husband only had one week of leave left before he was off to Texas. We went on a date almost every night and we kept in contact after he left through texting, Facebook and Skype. Our connection was so strong right from the start. I flew to Texas to visit him once and we chatted on Skype every night.
In December (about four months after we met) he found out he was being deployed in March. I knew I couldn't wait for him for another year, so I made the decision to move to Texas. We got married shortly after I arrived in February. He's my best friend, my soul mate, and my rock.
