(2/2... sorry it was too long for one message)

I realized eventually that he wasn't much of a writer... I thought nothing of typing a two or three page email to him, but writing was a chore for him... he said what he needed to say in 2-3 sentences and that was it. So I grew to appreciate any sort of written communication. I also realized eventually that he's not a "flowers guy"... and as romantic as flowers sounded at first, I realized that I didn't really want him to blow a lot of money on flowers.

So yeah, trust, trust, trust. He said he loved me, so I trusted him. I said I'd wait for him, so he trusted me. He said he was thinking of me even when he couldn't or didn't call or write, so I trusted him. Easier said than done, sometimes... but it's the only way I wouldn't go crazy.

And that is probably way more than you wanted to hear, LOL. Sorry!

Awww, thanks. My biggest things during deployments are to not stress over what I can't control, don't read too much into what DH says or doesn't say, and just TRUST.

I used to make myself nuts worrying, but I've learned that I just have to let it all go. No amount of me worrying about him brings him home safely, and no amount of me being miserable missing him brings him home sooner. The only thing I can control is my reaction to it all.

I used to make myself nuts thinking of reasons that DH didn't call me when he said he would or why he hadn't emailed me when I knew he had been online or why he never sent me flowers when the other girlfriends/wives were getting them. It made me nuts. But I finally realized that he often ended a phone conversation with something like "I'll call you tomorrow" out of habit without thinking of whether or not he would really be able to call. So the next night I would be crushed when he hadn't called... from my perspective he had "promised" to call so he must not care about me... from his perspective he was super busy and it never occurred to him that he "promised" to call.

I'm sorry What I've been doing is writing letters to DB via email whenever I miss him. I sent him like 8 in the week period where we didn't have any communication. It help me a lot. He read them the last time we talked and he loved it. Your DB is Army right? Do you know what his occupation is?

And care packages take about 10 business days to arrive at international APOs

Don't worry girl, before you know it you'll be chatting away with DB!
