I'm extending the deadline to tomorrow, 01/25/2013 at noon eastern due to still missing 6 participants starting weight. Anyone who has not submitted starting weight by then will be removed. I don't want to...but I have to get it started somehow.

To be honest, if you have a position similar to mine, you need to get used to being mostly lonely in such threads. The population on the board is largely religious, there is a sizeable conservative portion, and the Bible is a popular way of argumenting opinions. I'm not saying ALL people are this way, but a sizeable portion subscribe to this view, and another sizeable portion are really sympathetic to it. And about 90% of the board population find questioning beliefs to be a very ugly faux pas, because beliefs are such... I don't know, holy, untouchable things? So yeah, it's not a popular position to take.

I knew that when I decided to become outspoken about my atheism, and scientific skepticism, though, so I don't feel victimized in any form or fashion. It's a choice. You don't have to be outspoken, it has some downsides. But if you do go down the outspoken path, you will be mostly lonely most of the time in arguments.

There are some awesome people on the boards that fall on this side of the imaginary fence, though! And occasionally you get a nice supportive message that makes you feel like being outspoken is worth it, if it's giving a few people a voice.

Thank you! It means a lot, it seemed to piss quite a few people off. So I'm glad to hear I didn't annoy everybody
