How I Met My Military Significant Other:

I had gone on EHarmony because I had a super cheap coupon and had no intent of actually finding someone thinking that I would just find some creepy guys. Well, amongst those creepy guys (yeah, there were plenty - I was right) there was this one genuine profile of this very handsome young man. He tried to email me directly and I denied his request, so we walked through the guided communication. However when we got to the actual email part once again, he had gone into the hospital for surgery and didn't write to me for weeks. When he did, I almost didn't write back -- I seriously contemplated since he made me wait for so long! But I wrote back, and once we started talking, we couldn't stop. Since I was at home for college winter break at the time (2.5 hours from his base) we waited until I was back on the VCU campus a week later to meet for the first time in person. Boy was he even better in person :)

About Me:

I'm a super busy college student who is as diverse as her campus (seriously, VCU has every type of person - my DB loves people-watching here!) I am always keeping busy and looking for new opportunities. Some of my past experiences include being paid to travel across the US to different locations and teach dance to young girls and working for FIRST headquarters in NH while in high school (the nonprofit organization that promotes science and technology through robotics competitions). I was on a FIRST robotics team for 6 years and this is my 7th year with the organization overall -- it's a huge part of my life! But seriously you'd never pin me as a techie girl at first sight. I love shopping and have a huge obsession with Sephora. I also love going to the gym and working out. Currently I am a program assistant at a nonprofit organization that helps other nonprofits manage more efficiently through educational classes on relevant topics, as well as Alumni Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator for VirginiaFIRST, the Virginia-based nonprofit that exists to make FIRST available to every student in the Commonwealth. And as I said at the beginning, I'm a full time student as well, pursuing Graphic Design :) Yup, only 19...

About Us:

He lives in Norfolk and I live in Richmond, so it's a LDR even when he is home. I had dated someone who was in a Navy ROTC program at a college before, but that "military life" was hardly a factor in that past relationship in comparison to the dominant role it plays in my relationship with my SO now. Work keeps him very busy, but in the same breath - I'm just as busy as him with college and two jobs. We definitely appreciate eachother's company and I love him to death - but we're both still trying to foster our own dreams and at the same time slowly start to intertwine them so that they lead to "us".
