About Wen-D
Yes, very proud parent
Current Location/ Duty Station:
North Cackalacky
How I Met My Military Significant Other:
I met Josh online in 2003. He was in the Marine Corps and living on Naval Weapons Station Goose Creek near Charleston, SC. We talked online for almost a whole year before we met in person, but as soon as we saw one another, it just felt like "Home"! After about a year of dating, we got engaged. He asked my children if they would like to have him as a step Daddy and they both agreed whole heartedly that they would love that. So they all came to me and asked if I would be his wife. I, of course, said "YES!".
He has since gotten out of the active duty Marines and enlisted in the Army National Guard. We got married on Feb. 15, 2008 and he deployed to Iraq right before our one year anniversary, which sucks, but we're surviving!
About Me:
My name is Wendy Carpenter. I am 30-some (*wink) years old. I am wife to SPC Joshua Carpenter. We have 3 children: Whitney, aged 13 years and Tanner, aged 8 years and Rylee who is due in Sept.
I am a 3rd year student at the local community college studying Psychology. I hope (one day) to become a School Psychologist/Therapist or a Child Psychologist/Therapist independently. At this rate, it may take me a billion more years. Lol.
I absolutely LOVE to scrapbook and write poetry, although, it seems like I can never find the time to actually do it! I guess I'll have plenty of time soon when my hubby deploys. : (
Uhmmmm...Let's see....What else?
I am super outgoing. I ever, ever meet a stranger and upon meeting, treat almost everyone as if we've known one another for our whole lives. I am very emotional, sentimental and probably have a heart entirely too big for one person!
I love being a Mom and I adore my Soldier and love being a military wife!
About Us:
My hubby Josh is my very best friend in the whole world! We love to travel and visit historical sites. Both of us are serious history buffs; we both especially love Southern history! I have successfully turned my Midwestern boy into a true blue-blooded Southerner. I taught him to love sweet tea and grits!
Josh and I both love writing poetry and we frequently write for one another. We both also love to read a lot.
Interests & Hobbies:
I love to read, scrapbook, write poetry and sing. I also like to create on Paint Shop Pro.
Dream Sheet:
Hawaii ...if hubby goes back active Marines again when he comes home from Iraq like he plans on.
I love all types of music, especially Country and Alternative Rock.
Anything on HGTV or Cooking Network.
A Few Good Men, Top Gun, Black Hawk Down, The Notebook, Gone With the Wind
North and South, Gone With the Wind, Scarlett, Rhett Butler's People, Fleeced, Prince of Tides, Plantation, Sullivan's Island
Proud SAH Mom and Army Wife

Pregnancy test.....

by Wen-D on 12-04-2008 at 08:39 AM
After almost 2 months with no period while getting dizzy and throwing up, I figured I should give in and take a darn pregnancy test, even though I don't "feel" pregnant.
NEGATIVE...thank God!!
It's not that I don't want to be, but just not NOW. I am completely emotionally inequipped to handle having a baby all alone, while dh is off in some foreign land. Heck, it's all I can do to look after the 2 we already have without him here, much less add another little punkin' to

Only 1 hour left....

by Wen-D on 12-01-2008 at 03:36 AM
..... before my dh leaves me for training.
Why am I crying so much??? I know this is only for a few weeks, but just knowing it's the beginning of something so much more time away from each other, makes my heart literally ache in my chest.
I thought I was prepared, mentally, physically, emotionally, prepared to let him go without falling apart. Yet here I am, sobbing in front of the computer, looking at pictures of our OpLove photo session and remembering the way we laughed and played

Time moves too darn quickly

by Wen-D on 11-29-2008 at 02:03 AM
It's nearly 2 am and some friends of ours just left. Tonight we had a huge bonfire and a sort of going away party for my DH. It was really bittersweet, this enjoying time together, laughing and having fun, with the knowledge that I am slowing letting go of life as I know it.
When we got the news that he had been activated, a year seemed so far away. Now here we are, only 2 days left before my love and best friend is to leave, and it seems as if these past few months have only been a few days.

OpLove Photo Shoot

by Wen-D on 11-24-2008 at 05:03 AM
So we went yesterday and had our FREE OpLove photo shoot. Brian Salmon ( of Brian Salmon Photography took us to Mac Anderson Park in Statesville, NC to take our pre-deployment family photos.
The air was so crisp and cool on this fall morning. We could almost see our breath when we got out of the car to start the session. We had brought a soccer ball, so we started our session by kicking it around. That was alot of fun!
We walked a ways on the trail in the park,

DS in the Hospital

by Wen-D on 11-21-2008 at 10:47 PM
I swear, these past few weeks have been a total b*&ch!! My ds has had pneumonia, which went untreated for almost a week; I kept being told he had a "virus".
My dd had the same darn thing 2 weeks ago and went through the same little song and dance. "She has a virus." I try and explain that pneumonia is going around her school, and get gaffed off by the Dr. 5 days later, I take her to the emergency room and get told she has pneumonia, she takes
