Clinical Counseling. The clinical psych program is different but they have one in our area No I havent decided on theoretical orientation, probably CBT since its really common here and how Im being trained at work. I do like solution focused just because its here and now but theres a lot of issues in a persons past that could need attention. I really want to learn EMDR and Exposure Therapy so further training will definitely be needed!
  8. Walden University. You said your degree will be in Counseling Psych, right? I guess that could account for the differences in our courses. The Mental Health Counseling track uses a wellness model. I mean, I still have a very well used copy of the DSM, but the focus (from what I'm told) is different. EFCT is awesome tho. So so Experiential Family Therapy (Virginia Satire). Have you figured out your theoretical orientation yet? I tend to be very existential and I love Choice Theory/Reality Therapy (Glasser) as well. CBT is a no brainer, although I'm not as passionate about it.

What school are you going too? I havent heard they will do trauma/crisis! this is what I get for living in bfn Are you going for a drug/alcohol certification too? They just added this as CEU's to our program. Emotional Focused Couples Therapy? We haven't talked about that one yet just Structural, Systems, and 1 other one I cannot think of right now.

thats what I want to do too. There isn't much training on trauma/crisis counseling, my professor told me the best way to pick it up is to find someone who has been doing it and follow them. He also said at the annual ACA conferences they sometimes have very informative lectures on it. Are you going to go for your MFT and get a Masters? I would like too but the only MFT programs around me are Iowa University and it's a PhD program.
