I did total spent - total proposed that way it would show a negative if we went over our budgeting goal

Brain fart, that would be total proposed minus total spent to much going on up in my brain right now!

That is scary, yours looks just like mine, only with more colors and less pages (I also have sheets for other investments). Even how much you budget for gas, food and entertainment, the exact same.

    for being personal finance nerds!

I am very visual, so having a number of charts, and color change if we go over budget helps a lot.
Brain, Y U no think to google??? Now I won't have to re-up at the end of the year, I can use a free budget spreadsheet! Thank youuuuuU!

    Wow! This is gold!

As for me, it's just a basic list of expenses, then subtracted by the total income. I don't have a Savings breakdown or a credit card break down. That's a great idea.

I use google docs for mine, because it's live and online.

With regards to Mint...I don't find it that useful. My co-worker loves it though. In terms of security, it is able to see your information but can't make changes to it. You can also use the app "expensify", that's a good way to track a budget. I used it for a bit, then I just got lazy...but it definitely showed me what I'm using/wasting my money on. For example, I didn't realize I was spending that much on coffee or mindless snacks here and there.
