» MilitarySOS.com About Us
MilitarySOS.com originally started out as NavySOS.com, which was founded in January of 2004. After I realized I was in the navy/military lifestyle for the long haul, I found myself eager to find a site where I could find information on the lifestyle, support from other people who really knew what it was like and, most of all, a place I could call my safe haven and really fit in. I joined several sites and actively participated in all of them for quite some time. I still felt like I had not yet found a place that felt like home, at least not long term.
So, I took what little web design and administration knowledge that I had and ran with it. I created a forum with free software on a very small hosting site, with very few bells and whistles. I invited a few friends that I talked to through email and messenger, they referred a few friends, and then we soon had a very basic little forum going. I learned a variety of web design and website administration skills, mostly by trial and error (my poor members). I made plenty of both technical and administration mistakes. Through it all, our tight knit group of loyal members stuck it out and supported me even during my mistakes.
As our site grew and evolved, I realized that if we opened our doors to welcome military spouses from all branches, the amount of support and friendship would quadruple, at the very least. So, in January of 2006, just two years after the creation of NavySOS, we made a huge server move, changed the domain name, and started welcoming spouses and significant others from all branches of the military. Since then, just as I had anticipated, we have gained many new members from all branches who have helped contribute so much to our ever growing and evolving site.

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL
If you go to this web site, Let's Say Thanks you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

Has anyone's so ever been capped? I think it might be a navy thing? I don't know. All I have heard is that the captain picks them to advance. So there has to be more specifics than that! haha
No, dh has not been. I'm just curious.
