So, I got married on Monday morning... I'm so excited!! My DH's best friend came as a witness which meant a lot to us since our families couldn't be there. I was so nervous, but so happy as well. You're all going to die when I tell you what this judge's office looked like...
So, we walk in the building and it tells us that his office is located in the basement. It instantly smells like a funeral home, perfect huh? We get down to the basement and it's like we're in a damn wildlife reserve. There are pictures and real-life displays of fish, the outdoors, etc. Then we go into another room, and I feel like I'm in a boating lodge - boat replicas and wildlife stuff everywhere. Finally, we get into the room we're getting married in - this one was the best... a mixture of a wildlife reserve, presidential museum, the oddest wedding paintings, and 70's velvet furniture. The velvet sofa had permanent ass prints in it, there were half a dozen stuffed ducks/geese, paintings and pictures of early US presidents, and the list goes on. I was like holy crap, you've got to be kidding me. So, when I get nervous let alone see stuffed wildlife in my "wedding chappel" I start laughing and can't stop. My DH keeps hitting my arm telling me to be serious, but my god, I was dying and so was his "best man". But alas, the officiant came in, we did our vows and I balled and held his hand as tight as possible. I love him so much and I definitely will remember that day How could I forget? On a side note, for any of you girls who married into the military, what are the steps I need to take to get recognized by the military? I know I need to obtain an ID card, sign up for health/dental insurance, sign up for DEERS (btw, what is this?), etc. Any insight would help! Also do I need to make appointments for any of those to do's? I also heard that my DH has to submit our marriage license and do some paperwork b/f I can begin anything, is this true? Does it take a certain amount of time for this to be processed b/f I can sign up for everything else? Thanks for your help and I hope my psuedo wedding story made you smile. I just can't wait for our "big" wedding in 3 yrs.
