wedding ideas...????
ok i've been sitting here thinking..but im also not tryin to rush to fast into wedding decisions. i have a few ideas that i would like for my wedding but the rest i aint sure on.
My ideas and he has agreed to this...is to have the wedding on the beach during the fourth of july mid-afternoon where we'll end up doing "kiss the bride" as the fireworks go off. And then have the reception-like idea at the fireworks itself. But we also want it to be a military style wedding..since he is army. but would any of that work realistically? now for some other questions...do u really need caterers, and all that fancy stuff that u see in movies or hear about in celebrity weddings? i mean i want to do affordable but memorable, but not have to much that we wouldnt need. how many people in the wedding party is too many? and what are the best colors for like bridesmaids and what not(im thinking light colors from the rainbow)? what were ur weddings like? |

I'm not entirely sure about your location but a lot of places you'll be required to have a permit to have a wedding on the beach. Their may also be restrictions regarding fireworks. Definetly check into the laws in your area. Personally, I don't think you "have" to have catering. I think that you just have to do what fits within your budget and style. A beach wedding is a bit less formal than a church wedding so you can relax a bit. Maybe do a BBQ style reception since you're hoping for the 4th of July. It's your day do what makes you happy.

Well, DH and I didn't have a big wedding, but my ex and I did. We had it in the chapel on the base and the guy's wore their dress uniforms and I had the colors coordinate(white, navy blue and light blue). My bridesmaids already had light blue dresses, so we didn't have to buy them. I bought the traditional white wedding dress. My aunts and I made the colored bows for the church, as well as the flowers for everyone, all the decorations for the reception, and my family kinda catered it
Everyone helped out by making something, and my parents paid for the subway sandwich trays, so it was kinda like a picnic The reception hall my parents also paid for, but other then that, my ex and I paid for everythign and we got it all taken care of for less then $1000, and it was a REALLY nice day. I recomend something like that, if you want to incorporate the military, I would try to coordinate all your colors with his dress uniforms and try to make as much stuff yourself as you can-it's cheaper. The wedding on the beach would rock, but you have to figure that there are probably going to be a bunch of people there, since it's a holiday weekend. Maybe you can have the ceremony inside a church and then have the reception at the beach??? And when you guys arrive and leave have the fireworks??? That would be my suggestion, because it'll be hot and uncomfortable in the sun having to be quiet and keep kids still . Good luck though and if you need anything, PM me!

For a beach wedding you will probably need a permit. Also keep in mind that July 4 is going to be . . . warm, at least if you are in the south, so later in the day the better. A good rule on bridesmaids that I have heard is about 1 for every 25 guests. There is no need to have a caterer and the decision to have one or not should help you decide about your dresses. Are you going really formal or casual, etc. Good luck with everything!

Enjoy the beginnig stages of planning your wedding because by the last months of planning are torture! So many little choice to make. So days I would want to say I don't care anymore, you pick!
A wedding is a very special and personal event. Make sure your wedding fits your style. There are no "rules" that need to be followed, only traditions (which may or may not be important to you). Remember it is a celebration of your love for each other and not a show. Do what will make you happy. theknot.com is a great website. It really helped be plan my wedding. Good luck and keep us updated! |
