Wedding question
Okay, so I've never wanted a big wedding. I've always wanted something small and intimate. And I've never seen a point in spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on a wedding, either.
So that being said, I'm wondering if it would be normal to have a church wedding, then just go to a nice restaurant after with close family and friends? Or would that be tacky to invite a lot of people to the church, then not that many to the restaurant?

How we did ours was we had a smallish family wedding, then a luncheon then hours later we had a reception for everyone to come to and just said the wedding was family only. we kept it really small and it was nice and cut on costs!

I know people who have had their wedding and invited all and did the cake and beverages and some finger desserts at the church. later that night they had the true smaller reception with close people.
Nothing wrong with it, weddings are expensive! I know I paid for so many dang people at my reception, a good portion of whom I didn't really care for them there and plenty who didn't even bring a congratulations card. We wish we would had just run away with best friends and our parents and siblings.

I know we're definetly having it at our church, that's about the only definite we have! I think we'll just have family and very close friends at the ceremony as well as the "reception" (which will be more like a dinner)

i've also been on this same train...i don't really like the idea of a large wedding, and i'm not sure what to do about the reception...i want to get married outside, possibly on the beach, but the reception and what to serve/who to invite is all up in the air
this thread helps!
