For 30k the chaplain better be Gold Plated.
How much did you spend for your wedding? According to the interweb the avg wedding costs about $30,000
You ladies seem to be much more down to earth and intelligent about money matters. I would like to have a nice simple ceremony with a fun reception. I don't want to have a sit down dinner just Cake (my MIL 2be is going to make it and she is amazing at it) and lots of cool snackies . My aunt spent $3k on her wedding. It was very nice and she saved money by making her own invitations and decorations. I was wondering how some of you ladies did or are planning to do for your wedding and how you cut the cost? I looked in previous posts but all I found was Wedding themes. If there was a post about this already just push me in the right direction

Ours is looking like it'll be close to 6-7000 dollars (hopefully closer to 6) by the time we cover everything.
We'll have about 100 guests. We cut a lot of costs by doing some things ourselves or getting a less expensive alternative, but also decided not to skimp on some things. It is going to be beautiful!

I'm closer to the "average", probably $25,000. From the weddings that I've been to of family and friends, that average is about right.
fortunately my parent were able and willing to foot the reception bill but we payed a chunk for other things. it was absolutely perfect. everyone's styles and budgets are different.

My wedding was about 7k. I wore my mother's wedding dress. We had about 150+ people there, we used my grandparent's country club for the reception, a hometown catering company...we had a GREAT cake company come in from Indianapolis (my big splurge, hehe). We also did fake flowers that turned out WONDERFULLY and the centerpieces were very inexpensive, but were GORGEOUS. Our wedding was a 'Winter' wedding (NOT Christmas...big difference!), so we bought navy blue and silver snowflake EVERYTHING. White votive candles everywhere makes a HUGE difference, and the best part was that they are so cheap...
Good luck...you can do almost anything on a tight budget. Try over at theknot.com for some REALLY good ideas...those ladies are always coming up with good ones. Take care!
