Videography

I've been thinking about hiring a videographer for our wedding. I'm just not sure if it's worth the money and was wondering if anyone had used one.

I've been pricing local ones and they'd be about $2k for the wedding.

Did you have one? Was it worth it?

We didn't have one for our small wedding and that's something that I really regret. I mean we have pictures yeah, but it kinda sucks that we can't like, go back and watch our actual wedding. Now for the big one (we call it our show wedding lol) we will definitely be having one for the exact reasons that I just said. In my opinion photography/videography are two of the most important things to splurge on for a wedding.

my friend did a video for us for our ceremony for free....and it was priceless. I'll show you the link, but the video was just absolutely amazing to us. I don't know that we would have gotten a videographer cause we couldn't afford one, but they did this for us for a gift.

at the ceremony I just had my brother walk around and film people and it was also awesome...and free.

We didn't because I thought it was really cheesy and corny. But now I really regret it. Everything flew by so quickly, I wish I had a video to watch when I want to reminisce.

We had a family friend do it and he wouldn't let us pay him so we got him a nice gift.

The video turned out great!

IMO, I think $2000 is a bit much.

Its the editing that is expensive. It takes hours upon hours to edit footage right and work it to music and give you an end result that looks fantastic.

I saw places that did 'raw' footage a lot cheaper though if you just wanted something to commemorate the event and not necessarily make it look all fancy and short.

That's what I thought too and I want it done REALLY bad. Especially since those that didn't have it done seem to regret it. It's just not something we can afford. I think I'll call my mom and ask if it's something she'd be willing to get for us. I mean, she WAS going to pay for our flowers but we're going with fake.

Oh, and the guy who quoted me $2k won the "best of the knot" award in 2007 and 2008. I had a couple places quote something for me just under that and I'm still waiting back on a few though.
