How much does a photographer run these days? - Weddings

I'm NOT engaged, NOT planning a wedding

, I'm just purely curious! How much does a wedding photographer run these days, and what do you get for the price?

A sorority sister of mine is a wedding photographer in CA, and looking at her website, I was a little shocked at the price... But shopping around, she actually seems like a great deal, especially for the quality of work.

That's a good price - especially with receiving the digital negatives.

Although, price is relative to quality of course...

That's pretty reasonable, I'd say. They probably start at around $1500 and that's for like bare minimum.

That's what I figured... And I would shell out extra for a good photographer for sure.

Yeah, I saw some that were pretty bare-bones for around that price.

Well it all depends on how good the photographer is... but if she is good, thats a pretty cheap price for all that she is offering...

We are being quoted about $5k for similar packages, except its more like 6-8 hours, get rid of the engagement shoots and guest book and exchange those for some photo edits and a bride & groom album....

I've never heard of it either... the most I have found is 8

Wow. Interesting. She also does day-after shoots, for extra, which I think is very cool.

Well, hopefully, when I get married sometime in the next 1,000 years, she'll still be doing this!

For $500 I'm getting
Up to 4 hours of photography on wedding day
(1 hour session of bridal photography included $100.00 value - 6 5 x 7's or 4 8 x 10's)
100 4x6 photographs printed and placed into wedding album
Photos on cd or usb flash drive (printing rights included)
client online proofing
8 x 10 framed portrait

Each additional hour is $75 and she's traveling so I pay $50 for gas. She has amazing work and it took me awhile to find her.
