enlist help from any friends with connections! we had one of dh's groomsmen's father do our wedding invitations at cost (he had a business). we had a mutual friend do the flowers at cost (her family was a well-known florist in our area).
i can't particularly think of any other suggestions. considering the $$$ of our wedding, i suppose i'm not the best one to give advice

Lets see...
We might do invitations at home. I saw some kits at JoAnn's that I want DF to look at He's wearing his Dress Blues. Saves $$ for us not having to rent a tux Not do so many favors for the reception Were probably doing the wedding an reception on base. Hopefully that might save us some money. |

I've never been married before, but i watch all those shows and just basically getting really crafty with things. Buy fabric from the fabric store for your runners and just maybe like sew the sides in, have a mom or family members make the food, and bulk amounts you can do it like buffet style, and just have like chicken, beans, simple food, but good homecooking. or do potluck and ask everyone to bring a dish. Do not cut out booze though, maybe get a keg or something...that might be a little hokey though. Make all your decorations, have a friend take photographs, have the wedding at a home or something a place where you don't have to pay for it...i hope these are some good ideas..

With the exception of my photos, I kept everything on the cheap and still had a great wedding.
I rented my dress... I had a VERY expensive dress for $250 which included my alterations and crinoline rental No DJ... 5 disc cd changer and speakers we already had... everyone brought music and we had one friend who played the music Just do not get caught up in the whole hoopla... its one day out of the rest of your lives. Honestly its been nearly ten years since my wedding and I have not thought once about the stuff I did not have, I have my hubby and that is all I wanted out of the day. All you need is something to wear, some gold bands, a man you like, and someone to marry you... everything else is just window dressing and not important to your marriage.
