Wedding dresses
I have never planned a wedding. Does anyone know of nice places to find a wedding dress? I live in a small town but I could shop on line or go to Chicago or someplace close to there.

I have found that it depends on when your wedding is, too. Most places, except for stores that have some off-the-rack dresses (like David's Bridal, Ann Matthews in my town) say to give 3-6 months for the dress to come in. Or they can rush them, sometimes, for a fee. That has been what's limiting my choice of dresses to the off-the-rack stores like David's Bridal.

It's not for everyone, but I found my dress on ebay. When you're shopping online though, you have to remember that wedding dresses run really small. Mine is a size 10 and I normally wear a size 4 to 6, and the skirt is REALLY tight on me. Luckily, it doesn't need to be actually closed to stay up because of the bodice. You might just check out ebay. Stay away from the China/Hong Kong places... they are cheap, but I haven't heard many good reviews on them. You can tell which are dresses from shops here in the US and shops overseas.

my dress is from maggie sottero... i bought it at a local shop in toledo.
the only thing i would suggest is finding the sizing chart for a dress you want if you are going to buy it online. wedding dresses run really weird! most girls end up in a dress 2-4 sizes bigger then the normally wear... mines a size down. so who knows! haha. |

if you're close enough to go to chicago, i would do that...set up a few appointments at some different shops but look online beforehand so you have some ideas about what you like/don't like!
