Deployments and TTC
Did your SO's deployment have anything to do with your decision to TTC? We've always considered it, but I've been thinking more about it. For two reasons, both of which may sound a little
to you all. I don't want to start a debate, I'm just asking what you all have done, if anything, concerning this.1. Both of us grew up without fathers (I've never even seen a picture of mine) and I never want our kid to go through that, so it worries me if something would happen to him in Iraq, but at the same time. 2. DH and I both want there to be someone to carry on his name, and it would be wonderful to have some piece of him with me forever. KWIM? DH will be deploying this fall and I really don't know what to do. Has any of this ever played a role for you? What's your take?

Yeppers, DH brought up TTCing right before he left on the first deployment we went through... I went off the pill when he left and we started TTCing as soon as he got home..

Okay good... I don't feel so alone then. I don't know, I just think it's so important to have family... especially if he's gone .

Oh yes. We are TTC now...I have planned out the months we can try because my son was born while hubby was gone and I don't want to go through that again. So if we don't get preggo in the next few months, we stop trying and wait until after next patrol is over and he comes home.

We talked about trying to conceive before he went to Iraq, but we decided not to change our plans out of fear.

It is weighing heavy on our decision right now.
Dh is probably leaving for Iraq next July, from the looks of it. That gives us a year to have a baby. We will start trying in another week if my results from the latest Dr. visit come back ok. That gives us 3 months to conceive before it the due date starts getting into the time he might be deployed. Hopefully it happens right away, because I have a history with post-partum depression and it will give me 3 months to get over ot while he's there. If we don't conceive in three months, we will have to wait over 2 years for our next one. We know there is always the possibilty of deployment, but this looks like our best chance, so we are looking into taking advantage of it. |

Yeah... it's good that you have a while to work on it then! We probably only have a few months, unfortunately... but since DH just got back from Korea in Jan, there's no way he could have been here for me to conceive and have it anyway, LOL. Which would be ideal, but I doubt that's going to happen for us
