How to maximize our chances
I have quite a few health problems. To start with.. I have an ileostomy (for those who dont know what it is.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileostomy )
Next, I now have short gut/bowel syndrome as well because of other things happening in my life. (once again, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_bowel_syndrome) And lastly, I am on TPN (total parenteral nutrition). It goes into a central line I have in my side.. Its vitamins and fat made to go into my veins since I cannot absorb everything I need to survive on my own. Now is the GREAT (sarcasm) part. Me and DF want to TTC. We tried for 6 months before he deployed, and on r&r, but it wasnt the right timing during r&r. Im sorry this was so long, but I want to know anyones thoughts on what we both could do to maximize our chances of getting pregnant. He will not be home for about another 4 months. But we want to know now what to do. For example, any pills anyone recommends for improving his fertility? And mine? We want to be sure he is 100% healthy (same for me) so that we do not need to wait until we are healthier or something.. Any help is greatly appreciated! TIA! |

You need to talk to a doctor or nurse practitioner about the steps you should take next.
At this point, I would be worried it would be detrimental to YOUR health. If the doc clears ya...I'll be crossing my fingers for you. ![]() I don't know any tricks because I've never been pregnant!!

Thanks! I have already had a consultation with a high risk OB/GYN seeing as I will be high risk, and once I would become pregnant they will take me on. Until then.. I have a normal gynecologist. But I have another consultation with all my records soon, next month. The first one was done without surgery records, doctors notes, etc. I know all of the surgeries Ive had and all of what my health is like, etc, so I was able to help them. We just want to do another one with my actual records to be sure. We still have a few months until he comes home, but I have always wanted to be pregnant and have children. And DF wants this also, so we will do whatever we need to do if possible. The first consultation said that there was no reason I should not have a normal, healthy pregnancy and delivery. A c-section is definitely a last resort after all of the surgeries Ive had there..
Just so long as my health wouldnt be too much in jeopardy. ![]() I also love your siggy.

Plenty of Zinc for him, it helps improve sperm #s and motility. Mens One A Day isn't a bad choice. I"ve also heard of Fertilaid for men, not sure how well that works though.
For you, I"d find out what kind if vitamins and doses they are putting in first. You could take a basic prenatal but I would consult with someone first so you can make sure you aren't taking high doses in certain vitamins which can be very bad for you. |
