Flying with a toddler...

So Eian and I are flying out on the 2nd back to MN for the month, for a little vaca and since he's over two years now I've got to buy a ticket for him as well....I have a few questions....

1. Being that I have to buy a plane ticket for him that means he'll get his own seat right? *I'm sure that's how it goes but just wanted to ask*

2. If that's how it works *him having his own seat* then can I bring on his car seat to place in the seat?

3. And then if I do that does the car seat count as a carry on?

and my last question:

4. Does he get an equal amount of check on bags as well *I think each person gets allowed 2 correct?* or since he's a child does he just get one??

Sorry for so many questions, the last time I flew he was still young enough to have on my lap so I didn't worry about any of this....

He would get just as many bags as anyone else on the plane would, you bought the ticket so why wouldnt he?? Also last time I flew there was a boy next to me and his parents brought him a booster seat to sit on and they made them put it under the plane, they said its safer for him to sit on the seat alone than in the boster so I wouldnt worry about lugging his seat around!

Yes he gets his own seat.

Yes and I recomend it. I didn't do this because I didn't have enough arms/time with two kids alone but it was a huge pain to keep my 2 year old IN her seat with the seatbelt on during the flight.

I don't believe so.

He got a ticket so he gets 2 bags and a carry on.

Thanks so much ladies...I just wanted to be sure before I planned on taking his carseat and all...ya know

Make sure his seat will accomidate the car seat on the plane. Our seats on Continental would not have fit my eddie bauer and britax seats. You should call them and double check that they will fit. Some planes seats are smaller then others

and in order to use a carseat on the plane it has to be FAA approved or whatever. there is a sticker on it somewhere. booster seats arent allowed though

And lastly - Color Wonder - it's a lifesaver on a plane. We had that for all 4 kids on our 5 hr flight from CA to HI. Loved it!

One more question: Since he will have his own ticket and you have to show proof of ID at the gate, will I need anything for him...I was thinking just his S.S card...

Nope, I didn't need to show anything for DD. (we just flew a few days ago) they only checked my ID and that was only half the time.

I never showed ID for my kids, and they all got their own seats.
