flying with animals?

Do you think its cruel to fly with animals? I dont know how I feel about it, I would feel so awfull about it, but I love my kittys. I dunno. I know its not cruel, but I dont want them alone. ha.

How many of you do it? Does it have an effect of on your animal? What kinda animals can you take on as a carry on?

I don't think it is cruel at all. One of my cats has flown from Germany to NC then from NC to England and there has never been any problems. In fact, we both think that Kitty loves flying. She gets all excited when she goes into her kennel and is all excited when the airline workers have brought her out to us.

Kitty has never flown as hand luggage and she never will. We purposely bought her an oversized kennel because we like her to have plenty of space and it wouldn't fit in the cabin. Plus, I never know if someone is extremely allergic to pet dander and I wouldn't want to put anyones health at risk. All the airlines we have flown with Kitty have a climate controlled pet cargo area on the plane.

Well we brought our kitty from Germany here. And she did not like it one bit. Actually when they brought her off the plane I thought she was dead.

But I love her and in 5 months she will be moving back to Germany with us. I couldn't leave her behind.

I don't understand why it would be cruel? It's not like you are tying them to the wings or anything.

i don't think its cruel. when dh and i go to see family this summer we are bringing cosby and hopefully he'll be small enough to stay in the cabin but if not then we'll just give him a calming thing that some vets give and he'll be fine

Im just worried about them freaking out, what happens tp them when they fly.

I don't think it's cruel either!!!! There's only ONE way off this island for them...
I just flew out my kitty to San Diego from Honolulu, and she flew in the cargo hold. She did WONDERFULLY!!!!! She is normally a shy cat, but my parents are telling me she's just being a big flirt. I miss her. 4 more days until I get to see her again...

Here we have this stuff called quiet moments that we sell over the counter (ie as retail)...Our vets will not give a tranqulizer(ie Ace) because it can freak out the animal more.

I thought airlines won't take animals who have been sedated?!? That's what I was told.
