flying when pregnant?
I'm getting ready to fly home to Oregon next Tuesday, the 7th -- by then I'll be 33 weeks and a few days, and I have clearance from my midwife to fly since it's not a long flight, but here's my question:
I've never flown while pregnant, have any of you ladies? how did it go? did you experience any discomfort, nausea, etc.? Thanks!

The take off was fine for me, but it was the time in the air that got to me...I got really lightheaded and my legs hurt really bad and started to swell up, I drank some orange juice and just laid my head on the hubs lap while he held the bag 'just in case'....just the whole change of altitude bothered me, the take off and the landing I was fine...

Also if your in the air for a little bit, even just over 2 hours, get up at least once other than going to the bathroom so you can keep the blood flowing into to your legs....because pregnant women can get blood clots from the change of pressure and stuff due to flying.

Thank you ladies, I appreciate it.
The flight is going to be interesting enough considering I'm flying alone with my son, but I'm sure the flight attendents will be helpful. and believe me, I have already requested an aisle seat 'cause I know even with short flights I'll be needing to pee...even as much as I hate having to use airline potties...

I flew from Honolulu to San Diego and back at 34 weeks due to attend my grandmother's funeral. I didn't have any problems at all! I would advise sitting in an aisle seat just in case you have to go to the bathroom a million times...LOL! But other than that, I had no problems flying!
![]() ETA...I was 36 weeks along not 34. I got the 4 in there from thinking I had 4 weeks left...LOL!!! Last edited by Victoria; 10-29-2006 at 09:45 PM. |

I got nautious during my flight from NV to TX when I was 35 weeks!! Also in the air I didnt feel like I needed to potty so when we would land the change of pressure made me have to go to the bathroom sooooo bad it hurt to stand and walk!! So make sure you go the bathroom before they make you keep your seatbelt on while landing!!
