Baggage help! - Travel, Leisure & Vacations

I am flying Delta to San Diego in 8 days to see DF and go to the Marine Corps ball. Well here is the thing I do NOT want to check in at all. I know all the requirements for baggage and what not, but I'm not sure how to fit everything.

I have to pack my dress, clothes, etc. How can I manage to get all those onto the plane with me without having to check anything? HELP! Is it possible?

Well unless you can fit it all in a carryon, thats about the only thing you can do if you are adamant about checking luggage...

Put the dress in a garment bag and do it as your personal item? They will usually check it like a coat.

Ok, but for real, you have to mail it, carry it, or check it. I can't think of any other options.

take a suitcase that is still within the height/width requirements for a carry on and check it at the gate (where they give you a pink tag and take it from the jetway to load it) That way they don't weigh it, and you don't have to lift it up and down from the overhead compartment.

Then take a REALLY big purse or bag and a dress bag for your dress. Put your dress in the overhead compartment and your large purse or tote under your seat.

SPACE BAG!!!!!!!!! trust me on this one...also- i empty my purse into my suitcase, then squish it up...all i have when i go through security it my tote bag and carry-on suitcase (only two items allowed)...once i'm past security, i pull my purse back out.lol. VOILA, no checked bags.....actually now that i mention it...

i've been trying to figure out how NOT to check a bag on my flight for thanksgiving...i JUST remembered i own like 4 space bags..
