Formal night on cruises-dress blues?
We are getting volun-told by my hubby's family to go on an Alaskan cruise next year.
I've never been on a cruise. The family has already decided we are doing at least two formal nights. So my question is- has anyone been on a cruise where their s/o has worn their dress uniform? Or have you seen it done? I know my DH is not going to be happy with the suggestion but it would really save us money if he didn't have to buy a suit. Plus, I love seeing him in his dress blues. They cost so freaking much, we may as well get some use out of them. |

I've never been on a cruise, but it sounds like a great idea to me. If you don't want to buy a suit, by sister recently mentioned that on the cruise she's going on ,their are tuxes available for rent. You might consider that if your DH really doesn't want to wear the Blues.

My sister and parents went on an Alaskan Cruise... BIL did not wear his blues or his Mess Dress. Suit and tie is enough. Tuxes are not necessary.
We went on a Caribbean cruise, dh refused to wear his blues and was ok with a suit and tie.

I agree, even on formal nights, black tie is not required. A suit will suffice. But if he enjoys wearing his dress blues, he can do so with pride.
