Italy for R&R - Travel, Leisure & Vacations

My husband and I are planning on meeting in Italy for his R&R hopefully in Feb. Neither of us have traveled there before. Any suggestions on where to visit.
We were thinking of doing a few days in Pisa, Rome and Naples. Is this to much "traveling" inbetween distinations. Any better suggestions??

I think it is doable. There are all within a few hours of each other and it is beautiful here. You will love it!

HAVE FUN!!! We spent the night in Venice, left from a cruise there, did a day in Bari, then after the cruise did Rome for a few nights. Venice is beautiful, no suggestions other than ENJOY!!!

Cruise??? i never thought about that idea... I wonder how it would work tho with not having dates 100% set ... D*** army

DB had dates from the first few weeks in and went ahead and planned...he lucked out

But hey, worked for us! Not that I'd suggest that though!

P.S- the cruise was awesome...the ship was a bit more tacky than I was expecting but now that I know what to expect I would totally do it again!

so now after talking to friends and family im debating on venice, florence and rome?!? too much travel for only 10 days? since he wont know his exact dates i cant really make reservations so does anyone have any experience with "back packing" or just winging it thro europe?!??

I backpacked last summer... Did a few weeks here an there. A great experience. 10 days is plenty for the 3 cities you mentioned. When you know for sure your DH is on leave time (a week would work even) you should look into booking a hostel maybe. We always stayed at one with kitchens etc to save money. Hostels are definitely the easiest way to wing it. Ryanair has cheap flights within Italy. Cheaper than even the train usually. I went to Venice a few times over the summer, I would do Venice 3 days, Florence 3 days and Rome 4 days.
