strange customs question....... - Travel, Leisure & Vacations

OK, My grandma passed away on the 10th of sept. and before she died she told me she wanted me to take some of her ashes to ireland with me and for me to spread them "somewhere pretty".

I have already talked to the tour peeps and I can do the spreading with no problem- but.....

will I need to declare them at customs? I did not even think about customs until DH said something today....

and do you think they ( the ashes) would need to be in a special container?

I can call customs tomorrow but I am impatient and figure someone here would know!!!

I remember my aunt saying she couldn't mail them and that she put some in a toy train. But I don't know about customs.

You might have to check with the Consulate. Some countries aren't cool with disposing of ashes, especially if they are not citizens.

thanks- I did get the death cert with the ashes today- and I am taking only about 1 ounce- not my entire grandmother--- ohh that sounded wierd-
I think we will be ok and even tho i am sad she is gone I am excited to be able to do what she asked me to do the day before she died.
