Where would you go? (Europe)

We are stationed at Ramstein, Germany. When my husband comes back, per AF rules he is allowed two weeks of leave but we have to stay within 8 hours of the base. He's going to ask if that includes air or train travel, but it didn't when we were in the states so I doubt it will here

So if you had two weeks in October, where would you go that is within 8 hours of our location? Any ideas? Just don't say Paris! We've been twice and it wasn't our favorite place.

Emmy, what about Switzerland? We're close to there, or Austria, Italy is less than 8 hours on a train as well....

Well we wanted to go to Italy, but Milan is about the only place we could get to within 8 hours. Venice is pushing it. And Rome, Florence, Pisa, etc are all way out of the range.

We're taking a trip to Eastern Germany and Austria later in the year so we don't want to do that now. Switzerland could be a possibility, but I wouldn't know where to start or what to do!

I wish it allowed for plane travel. We could get anywhere in less than 2 hours basically and much cheaper that way. When he gets his official return date we'll find out.

I have a lot of friends who've been, they say it's amazing! Prague has my vote. Second choice, Amsterdam!

Langeoog, Sylt or any of the other little Islands off the coast. My favorite is Langeoog. It's a tiny little island, no cars, beautiful beaches (and for me lots of good childhood memories lol)

I'd definitely go to the Netherlands or Belgium. I've been to Germany, but I've only been in the Hamburg/Hanover/northern part, and I liked it a lot.. I'd love to go to Berlin, Munich and places like that too.

Prague & Milan sound awesome, too though. Tough decision. I'm so indecisive because want to travel EVERYWHERE.

You're already going to the western side?

Hamburg is only 5.5-6 hrs away and it's pretty amazing! I lived there for about a month before heading to Tarmstedt and Bremin. Both are also awesome places to visit!
