Im flying home next week
Ill be flying by myself, and Ill have Carter. Any advice for traveling with an infant? Hes not playing with toys yet, and he is usually pretty cranky. He likes to keep moving. My plan is to keep him in his sling, and nurse him during takeoff and landing to help with his ears. What can he sleep in while Im there? I should have thought of this beforehand. Do you think the time difference (2 hours ahead) will effect his sleep schedule? He is a great sleeper now, he usually does 8-10 hours waking only once to eat, Id hate to mess that up. ADVICE PLEASE

I would just feed him taking off and landing but you already know that
He'll probably be fine the whole time since hes so little. The time difference may affect his sleep but it shouldn't too much. Being somewhere new may affect his sleep also. It usually takes dd a few days to a week to readjust to a new place.

I just got back from AZ with Bella and the biggest thing was to just nurse often. They didnt make me take her out of my sling to go thru security ( I have the baby k'tan). We checked the carseat at the gate and the stroller at the plane. She didnt use the stroller at all. We basically used it for our carry-on's
You do have to send the stroller thru the xray machine. Beware of the other passangers- the stewardess came and asked me to please "cover up" while I was nursing Bella cause I made a passenger uncomfortable |

Im keeping him in my sling as much as possible, and if I nurse him in there you cant even see him or my entire chest, so we should be good. Im probably going to nurse him most of the trip if he starts to fuss, Im just worried about a diaper change in the bathroom

Oh, also he can not be in your sling during take off or landing. The diaper changes were not that bad, most planes have tiny changing tables. Things will be pretty easy for you, I bet. |

Have him sleep in the carseat while there. Thats what we did with DS when he was little. As far as flying with him, ask a pharmacist if they have a dosage for benadryl for how ever old he is. I don't know if your anti med... but benadryl is a life saver when we fly!

I am a big advocate for car seats in vehicles. That includes planes. I flew from GA to HI (15 hours) with a 2.5 month old and a 23 month old. Both were in car seats. I nursed during take off and landing. I also had my sling for getting through the airport but on the plane, my 2.5 month old (was that age at the time) slept the entire time. She slept in her car seat. Good luck!
