Boston (hotels)
We are planning a long weekend in Boston in a few months. The hotels in downtown Salem are really pricy. My SIL (who is going with us) found the La Quinta Inn in Somerville. I'm not expecting luxury but do want safety. Anyone know this hotel or area?? TIA

Are you looking for proximity to Salem or do you want to be in Boston? That area's not not safe, but there are better places you could be, depending on where you want to be. It's right next to 93, and so it would be loud.
If you want to be close to Salem, you'd be better off looking in a place like Peabody. |

That area is fine, it's just really loud - traffic from the 93, Route 1, the airport. You could always go to the Malden area - that way you're on the T line into North Station (you want to take the T rather than drive in Boston, if you're not a native).
Check hotel proximities to the T on mbta.com - either commuter rail and/or subway. |
