Wheel Chair & Airport - Travel, Leisure & Vacations

I'm picking up my MIL at the airport tomorrow. She's in a wheel chair. Can I pick her up at the gate? She's coming in so late there's no airport personnel who can wheel her through security. I've tried to call the airport & no one answered.

Ive never seen an airport without workers there...I am not sure, when I had a fracture they let me take a little cart to bagage claim.

There should ALWAYS be someone there to help with disabled persons. I know there's ALWAYS been an airport worker waiting at the gate for a disabled passenger.

they are required to have help for her. If you are not flying and have a departing ticket they will not allow you back there.

You should be able to. My dad came to visit and flew to CT after visiting me. I was able to escort him to the gate because he was elderly. Just ask for a gate pass and explain the situation.

She got a call from someone (she didn't say who) saying there'd be no one there

I'm going to keep calling the airport. Hopefully someone will pick up eventually!

Keep calling!!! I think you can get a gate pass if there's not going to be anybody to assist her.

They should have someone available to assist her. I would call the verify though especially after she was told no one would be. Explain that she will need assistance if no one from the airline is available. I would think they would give you a gate pass then.
