Is the Agony of LOVE
![]() |
I haven't flown in years and I was wondering if anyone knew the laws and regulations about carring medications on board? See I have percs. from my sinus surgery a year ago left and I want to take 6 with me on the flight because of my ear infection and incase it hurts upon decent.
So my question is.. anyone know if I have to have the bottle it came in with my name on it or can I just put it in a bottle with my Tylenol? Also.. anyone ever heard of the ear canal collapsing during a flight because of a ear infection?

As long as they are in their original containers, in a seperate bag quart plastic bag from your carry on, and you declare them at security, you will be fine.
![]() I work for an airline, and I have also had to travel with meds and stuff under the new regs. |

Put your tylenol in a plastic zip lock bag. And your medicine in its bottle can only be 1 0z I do believe. Like the size of the those little hand sanitizer bottles. I THINK. Not completely sure. At least that was how it was when I went to Israel, rules may be different now.

Also the bottle says they are expired. I work at the pharmacy where they were filled at and I know the pills themselves dont expire till 2010.. Will that be a problem?

(well, some don't but sometimes you get a dumbass who goes letter for letter by the book) And just say "these are my meds" they don't really look that close... they just want to make sure you are not carrying anything that could be construed as anthax or other kind of anything "terrorist like" It's really lame, but they do stupid things like that... I did figure out though that you can have water go through to the gate with you IF you have Airbourne in it, because then they consider it a "medicinal substance" |

Narcotics (vicodin, etc) need to be in its container - with your name on it. You can have them taken away if you are searched and they are in a ziploc bag or a tylenol bottle. (It's the law)
My mom puts all of her other meds in a ziploc bag & has been searched atleast 3 times- never had problems. |

Have fun on your trip... and your ear should be OK if you have your meds, some gum, (maybe put some oil and a cottom ball in there before you go) and got your dr's OK to go.

dont have insurance so do go to a doc so its like 90 bucks for me. But my ear is almost fully healed. Just slight pain every now and then and I am gonna take some Afrin. Afrin I was told to do a puff before I board the plane, then puffs every 5 min. during decent and to chew gum the entire flight. Said it will shrink the swollen membrans in the ear canal and the sinus cavity. The Percs will just be back up.. ya know a "just in case" thing.

http://www.drugs.com/mtm/afrin.html Never use this medication in larger doses or more often than is recommended. Too much oxymetazoline nasal could be very harmful. Oxymetazoline nasal should not be used more often than twice a day (every 12 hours). edit- you might want to consider doing plain old saline mist. "Ocean" is a good brand. I worked a little bit with an ENT doc who always gave that to his sinus patients! |
