he comes to me since i'm a poor college student haha...but i would go to him in a second if i could...i'm going to when he gets back from deployment to see him come in and spend a few days down there....if i can find a way to afford it.

I have once- just to San Diego (we're in Hawaii). I was 30 weeks pregnant and we had a blast.

We thought about it during this deployment, but its just too much to travel with 2 toddlers all by myself to foreign ports. Too expensive, too stressful...

i did...it was great if you can afford it and plan it just right definatly do it...so worth it.

Ive gone to a port call when he was there. It was SOOO worth it!

Really cuz when i asked him about it...He said exactly what i knew that if i did fly out there i had no gaurantee that we could spend alot of time together he would still have to work and everything.

Thats true, they have liberty ports and working ports- liberty ports they still have to go into work unless they take leave, but they usually don't work long days.

I know they *try to get the guys off who have wives coming in, but if something is broken or they have alot to get done there is a real possibility that you will be there and he has to work every day, and stand duty.

Some ports they are allowed to ask for leave, but its not guaranteed.

Another problem is the boat schedule can change at the drop of a hat. I know our schedule has changed at least 3-4 times just within the first month- and not just by a few days, whole port visits have been dropped and new ones added. I am glad I didn't plan to go because we definitely would have been screwed with the port that I wanted to visit- they aren't going there at all now!

it depends on if its a working port or liberty port and they still have duty regardless. my DH's ship was never pulled in long enough to justify the cost, one guys wife met them in every port that guy got picked on so badly but i would have loved to met him in austrailia and if they stop in italy, he said i really would love london though, i think i would have liked hong kong too
