Here's another flights question for you
I've found a flight that goes through Chicago for a lot less than the others (by about $200). But, the connection is horrible. It's 1 hr 25 minutes. I don't remember if I have to get my bags and then recheck them or not. Likewise, will I have to do that on my return trip? I know when I did this last year I flew through Atlanta. The flight out it was checked through, but on the way back I had to get my bags and recheck them. The connection time is very quick at 1 hr 30 on the return, so I'm worried that I might miss my flight.
Is an hour and a half long enough to get across the airport with a toddler in stroller (and carrying a car seat)? I think it is so long as i don't have to deal with checked luggage too! Help! I need to book this today if I'm going to do it. There are only 4 tickets left at this price. Any suggestions?? |

Well usually there are more than 4 tickets left at that price- they just like to scare ya.
Ummmmm I don't know how busy the airports are- but I'm guessing Chicago would be a killer. I think you could do it, even if you did have to recheck your bags. But unless the connecting flight is with a different airline, or you are going overseas- you shouldn't have to recheck them.

It depends on what kind of immigration status you have. If you have to join the queues that people who have a visa have to, then I'd take something with a longer connection. They take forever to clear! If you are able to join the same immigration queue as the US citizens, then that length of time should be fine. Other than that, Chicago's not a bad airport to have a short connection at. The only problem you might have is if you are delayed (which, given the time of year may happen due to weather). In that case, they should just put you on the next available flight. |

I will be flying overseas. It's United to BMI but the flight # is a BMI flight operated by United.
The flight out would be Seattle to Chicago, then Chicago to England. Then the same in reverse. When I did this with Delta when I lived in Florida I had one connection through Atlanta. Not only did I have to get my bags, but I also had to go through security again. Not much fun when you're trying to manage a stroller, hand luggage AND the checked luggage. It took 3 hours to get through it all. My layover was 3 hours 30 minutes, but then my connecting flight was delayed for 2 hours anyway so it wasn't a big deal on that. I'm just terrified I'm going to get stuck overnight in Chicago or something. I go through the US citizen line for immigration because I am a permenant resident and DD is a US Citizen. |
