how can she get home? - Travel, Leisure & Vacations

my good friend & neighbor would like to get home for her grandmother's funeral. the grandmother was taken off life support this morning and is expected to pass away within the next six hours. we're out here in 29 palms while all her family is out in ohio. being tight on money like most military families, she can't afford the ticket home. is there any help out there for her to get the ticket home through the marine corps, general military, etc?

is she with military?
Like a dependent.
Because if so she can take space A
or call red cross.

NMCR will give her a no-interest loan which she won't have to start paying back until (I believe) after the holidays.

alot of airlines will discount tickets if she has proof of the death. My stepmom had to send the airlines the obituary after the fact

she is a marine wife. bakersfield is not far from us for a space A. can she fill out forms for that here at 29 palms? i don't get to talk to my airman friend again until tuesday or i'd get him to explain it. so can ya'll? thanks! i'll also mention the NMCR thing.

she wouldn't be able to use space A because she won't be traveling with her husband (he would have to accompany her). but the NMCRS may help.

Also calling the airline and indicating that she is a military wife and the death the discount may be awesome. I have a friend who just did something similar an got a $1700 overseas flight reduced to $600.
