Pro-ish cake maker/decorator

Is anyone here a cake maker/decorator for a bakery? Or really just work in one??

I'm wanting to get into making cakes/treats.

I've been watching cooking shows and think its amazing!! My grandma used to make wedding cakes and shes giving me whats left.

I'm going to takecake making/ decorating classes and if I still like it go to pastry school..


Anyway.. How do you like it?!

my mom is and shes slowly teaching me i love it. its a lot of fun to make somethign creative that other people can enjoy

I love decorating cakes! I make cakes for hubby's work, family events, and all my friends kids' birthdays and such, its so much fun. I think you'll really enjoy the decorating class

Hey, Im at ft riley too and Im a pastry chef with a "major" in wedding cakes. My best advice right now would be just to have fun, experiment and practice.

I send new recipes in with DH all the time to get feedback. Dont beat yourself up if something doesnt come out right, it happens to the best of us at times.

I hope you enjoy it as I find it a very fun profession.
