Tackling our first deployment!

Ideas
Im going to my in laws for dinner on Tuesday. I am meeting DH's great aunt, but DH won't be able to be there. I offered to take care of dessert for the night. I'm not sure what to make though! I'm thinking some sort of cheesecake. I've never made it, but you can do a variety of things as far as adding fruit and stuff so there'd be something that everyone would be sure to like! Any other ideas?

I think a really moist layer cake always goes over well and is simple to make--especially if it's a good box mix
