Louisa sent me a website that warned me against these cakes and I ended up throwing away all of them...does pasteurized eggs get rid of the risk of food poisoning?

i used the recipe from allrecipes.com... can you find eggs that aren't pasteurized? all my dairy products are.
and i believe the food poisoning is because people don't sanitize the jars properly and then they don't seal them properly. i boil my jars for 10 min AND my lids. i boiled the jars first, then you have to lay them out on clean fresh towels and dry them. poor the cake batter in immediately and stick in the oven to bake. while the cakes are baking, you boil your lids-- for at least 10-15 minutes. when the cakes come out of the oven, take one lid our of the boiling water, dry it on a fresh/newly cleaned towel and place it on the jar. then put the rings on. make sure that all the lids seal correctly. depending on how long it takes to reach your soldier, there is a chance that the cakes could go grow mold, but that's the same risk as with anything else that's baked that you might send over. the proper sanitizing of the jars is your best bet-- although, because the cakes shrink and are full of air, the packing is not nearly as good as it would be if you sent something dense (like jam) over. because the jar wouldn't have any air in it.
