i am looking for the recipe for that use applesauce instead of the oil in brownies?
![]() i made it one time when i was in girl scouts but that was like 10 years ago im sending Db some brownies and he is all about losing a little weight. so he told me to send whatever but i wanted to cut the oil. i mean i know brownies arent the best thing to send him when he is trying to lose the weight but he wants them and i figured something homemade would be a good thing for his miserable time right now TIA |

You can also substitute mashed pumpkin/squash/sweet potatoes the same way.

brownies with pumpkin
not sure if you've tried the other recipes yet, but here's the brownie mix and pumpkin one:
http://www.hungry-girl.com/chew/chew...s.php?isid=978 i had some friends try them and didn't tell them until after that only pumpkin was in them. they didn't notice the difference! i'm not sure how these will hold up for shipping though.. |

I do this with everything, even cakes. Just sub the amount of oil they call for with applesauce. So if it calls for 2/3 cup of oil use 2/3 cup of applesauce. It tastes the same. I've seen people use veggies on cooking shows to sub for the oil to add some more nutrients. All you need is the moisture from something to make up for the oil
