Cereal Bars
Hey ladies, my DF loves those expensive cereal bars, like the cheerio one, so I decided to try to replicate them. I think I got pretty close.
1/2 c sugar 1/2 c honey 1/2 c peanut butter 3 c cereal 1/2 c mix ins (optional) Grease an 8x8 pan In a medium sauce pan over med heat combine the sugar and honey. Stirring, Let boil one min until frothy looking. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter. Pour honey/peanut butter mixture over the cereal, stir to combine. Now is the time to add the mix ins if you want. Press into a greased 8x8 pan and let set. Some of the cereals I use : cheerios, fruit loops, lucky charms, captain crunch Mix ins: dried fruit, chocolate chips, coconut, nuts I typically drizzle a little melted chocolate over the tops once the bars are cut. Each pan makes around 10 bars. I just cut them and bag them in sandwich bags and stick them in the fridge for my DF to grab on his own. |
