Ok so i got an email from my DD 6th grade teacher talking about DD study skills & She wanted me to consider putting my DD in reading 180, which she was in before (from 3rd to 5th) and DH & i saw no improvement. so we started doing the extra reading at home with DD.
Now its a new school yr & DD grades are up higher than before. Well the teacher wants to put DD in reading 180 for basicly help to improve her grade level in reading. But my thing is DD is making a B in reading right now?!? ![]() When i asked the teacher to please explain further about the "study skills problem" she said that her grade in science is not were it should be.. shes currently making a C in science. The teacher thinks DD needs flash cards? I have bought study books, read things from online with DD. Her (DD) problem the teacher said was the test score are what DD is failing at. (i never liked science so i can see my DD issue )So i told the teacher i do not want her in reading 180, & that i think DD problem has something to do with ADD/ADHD. The teacher said she agrees! so yeah we agree on that. The teacher said she will get a "referal" to me. So my question after all this is ... what happens next? i think DD has some form of ADD, she hates doing long tasks (like homework) & will right down anything just to get it over with, & will always say its to much work. she excells in math which does surprise me i hated math also. i just dont know what consist of a referal or what kinds of test they will have DD do? i have heard a wide range of examples of test. Can someone please explain to me anything? i have no clue about this issue. ![]() thanks in advance!

After a referral, she will be tested by a school psychologist to see if she qualifies for services. Have you gotten any paper work?

Because she's able to do things that she enjoys makes me suspect it isn't ADD. I have one with ADHD and one with ADD (as per the school psychologist) and they can't focus on anything to save their life. The oldest bounces off the walls and the younger one with ADD just goes off into mental "never land" and we have to sit with him in order for homework to get done.
It doesn't hurt to ask the Dr for a referral for testing tho'.

Thanks For your advice ladies, we will just wait and see what the school psychologist has to say. I hope it not ADD/ADHD & just a 13 yr old girl trying to do her best.
but i did read a report ...ADD Symptoms in Children - Inattention http://www.buzzle.com/articles/add-s...-children.html she has all 8 symptoms under the "Inattention". Again Thank you!
