peanut butter/ gluten help.
Recently I took my daughter to the doc ($700!) and he informed me that she should not eat gluten or peanut butter. We are already vegan, meaning that she doesn't eat anything dairy or meat. He said she can start eating eggs except that doesn't make up for the PB&J's which are like a staple of her diet, lol.
She is a super picky picky eater... she won't even eat corn as a vegetable. Or any vegetable. LOL. He said to substitute peanut butter with nut butter. Does anyone have a kid-friendly suggestion about this? All I know is sesame tahini and we have never tried it because we love peanut butter. Also, can someone explain to me the difference between wheat and gluten? Because apparently she can have wheat still, but not gluten. My main concern is bread and finding some without milk OR gluten. Help?

I dunno about the gluten free stuff but I can tell you that they make sun nut butter and it is sold in most Wal-mart stores and if not the organic section of your grocery store should carry it but not sure what types of store you have. But look for Sun nut butter. It is VERY good..and we LOVE our peanut butter...but it is good if PB is missing in the house!!

Oh also, I'm vegan as well and I eat the ezekiel 4:9 sprouted grain bread. It's with the frozen bread. It's gluten free.

I'm gluten free myself. The only bread I have found is the LIGHT brown rice bread from Energe. It is the only one that is worth buying in my opinion and you have to warm the pieces in the microwave for 10 seconds. Another good choice are these bagels that only come in sesame or plain but I can't for the life of me remember the brand which I know does not help. I'm not sure on the peanut allergy but does Nutello (sp?) have peanuts in it? If not, that stuff is a godsend. You can have it on bread and crackers or use it has a dip. It's fantastic. Georges gluten free muffins are good but I think that might contain dairy. There are more and more gluten free options coming out every year.
