Another EFMP question.
My dh was cut orders when the detailer was suppose to wait til the EFMP paperwork was finished. She obviously didn't wait. My sons behavioral specialist and Master Chief handled getting the EFMP done as quickly as possible. I actually think its nearly complete now or just got complete. Well, anyway we were told from Master Chief that the EFMP will over ride the orders dh just got and he'll get new ones and he told us not to worry. DH is suppose to report to his new command July 13. So has anybody here heard of that or know what the EFMP will over ride? I know what we are being told but I mean I still can't help but worry. My sons Dr. believes that it would be a huge setback for our family if dh doesn't get to come back here where we are or if we have to move out there to be near my dh because of the whole process my son has to go through each time. Detailer says there's no place for dh here and several Senior Chiefs and Master Chief says there is and detailer just don't want to put him here they've been going back and forth. I don't know what is going to happen.
Update: we got word we are just waiting on a catagory code and the detailer will be able to see all the info in the system. So I guess thats that and now we wait.

When my son was diagnosed with cancer, his EFM category at a 5 over rode his sea orders and put him back on shore after only doing 1 out of 3 years on sea. It just really all depends on what the category is and where the orders are for. I hope that you guys find out soon.... this waiting stuff is rough.

yeah he definitely won't be a 5 but he'll be at least a 3. I know it won't rotate him back to shore, and thats fine. They just want him back here to Gulfport where he is closer to his family instead of San Diego because the Dr thinks it would be a setback to my son as well as our family for us to move again. He can be on sea duty here but at least he'll be where we are when he comes home and we'll have that stability.

Yeah definitely some back dooring going on here. We wouldn't of made this happen so fast with out it. No mossy not looking for shore, just looking to get my hubby orders back here so we won't have to uproot here to go out there to be with him because his new orders are for 3 years to the USS Decatur. Doc said it would be a huge setback if we were to have to be separated like that or if we had to up root and stop the progress we've made here to go there.

Well if you ask the Seabee's he is a Seabee LOL ,but not by rate. Seabee is really all he knows to be honest. He has spent the majority of his career with the Seabees with Batt. 133 in Gulfport and then to a Seabee shore command in WA. He was on a ship for 2 years before and that was the only time he worked in his rate. Well, he left shore early for SWCC training because we were going to come back to SBT22 at Stennis but he had some stress fractures in training and was rolled out after 7 weeks in, and put on hold to wait for new orders.
There was suppose to be no problem coming back to Gulfport even the detailer said so but then suddenly she has been hell bent on sending dh to the Decatur so thats when the back dooring came in. We were in the process of doing the EFM stuff and the detailer knew that. DH talked to the Master Chief about it when he was here on leave. Just incase this was to happen. (You probably know the master chief I'm talking about). Master Chief said don't worry and made some calls up to Millington to her people and she was suppose to mark him unavailable for orders until the EFM stuff was done, but obviously she didn't. The Dr. and the Master Chief had got together to get the EFM stuff expedited asap. Then 3 days ago the detailer cut dh orders anyway to that ship when she personally told the Master Chief she wouldn't that she would wait on the EFM to get in the system. Well all of the EFM stuff was complete and submitted and in the system yesterday, but dh already has orders. Master Cheif and Senior Chief says not to worry that the EFM will over ride those orders but I mean Im still worried, I can't help it. We aren't asking that my husband be rotated to shore again, but we are just wanting him to be stationed closer to us so that when he is not deployed he can be here with his family as much as possible. There are several billets in Gulfport that dh can fill right now because the battallions just happen to be lacking that support at the moment.

Do they tell you what category you are during your screening? Is it different between branches, I totally keep putting it off because its such a pain.

I honestly don't know lol. ask someone who knows because my son's dr and a very nice master chief handled it for us so it would go straight through. I don't know how long most people had to wait but mine was done literally in a matter of days. When I spoke to my sons doc about it in the beginning he said he expected a 3.
