My son's school offered him placement in a class for kids with behavior issues as opposed to those with learning issues, which he does not have. We had a meeting, we got it all worked out, now they come back and tell me it is full. he will have to go to the other high school. That isn't an option, that will make it worse. He is not good at making friends, he gets picked on a lot, moving him will start it all over again.

So, it is either move, or he doesn't get what he needs. Who do I fight about this?

Principal, superintendent of schools, then state board of education. I don't know, you may not win it since the other school has a slot. Push the getting picked on, how moving him will set him back. Read up on Wright's Law.

i dont know what i could say that would help, but im so sorry. i know how hard you;ve been working to try to help your son get the best care possible, and i'm just sorry to see you going through so many different hoops good luck

Thanks sweetie. It never seems to be enough. He is going to fail English for half the year, which means he has to retake it. This class was going to help in that class, because they will gauge learning differently. He can't write papers, he just can't.

i hear you. sometimes the way "normal" kids are evaluated for learning just don't work for kids with special learning needs. they know the material, and those more conventional grades (like papers) trip them up, not the actual material. no matter what happens, he's lucky to have a mom like you who is so dedicated and invested in him and his education hang in there
