I can't get over how excited I am. I went in to the Dr.s office with Buddy today, going over and over and over what I was going to say, how I would say it and really just hoped that I'd get the results I was looking for...and I DID!!!
I'm so excited...I could almost cry I'm so happy.Well, first, I started with my labor with him and how I was literally seconds from a c-section because the Drs lost his heart beat. It wasn't that he moved...it was undetectable to the toco's that are used to monitor babies, as well as the internal monitor that was placed on his head. Zip, zero, nada...no HR for SEVERAL minutes. I told her that he did rebound, and when delivered, his APGAR scores were 9/9 which are AWESOME...but nevertheless...his HR was undetectable. Second, I went on to explain his hearing loss, the tubes and how it affected his speech as well as language and learning. I told her that the ENT told me she had never taken so much fluid out of a childs ears in her life. That was just another little *note* I wanted her to know. Then I went on to explain my Dad and his neurological history. How he had Petit Mal seizures which involved him "zoning out" and then experiencing "confusion" when he "came back" from them...then told her that Buddy does the same thing. Nowhere as frequent as my Dad, but it still happens. I was mid sentence and she told me "Wait, I have NO problem getting you a referral to Peds Neuro for that" so there was no need to go any further. I don't know if he's having seizures, but I do want his head to be scanned to make sure there isn't any damage that has been done to this guy. KWIM??Then, I explained how my child, can't read anywhere close to the level he should be at (he needs to be at 24, but is at 16) and reminded her that he was a repeat and if anything, he should be at grade level at this point. I then went on to tell her that the GATE (Gifted And Talented) testing showed that he was borderline gifted. She had me pick a couple of words for him to write so I had him write "day" and "boy"...of course the "b" and "d" was mixed up which is no surprise to us and she agrees that she thinks he has dyslexia. So...we got a referral to Neuro... and a Dr.s note urging the school to test Buddy. Good thing we've already scheduled an ISP meeting with everyone there. Having this note will just make it easier to come to that determination. I feel like finally, we're going to get somewhere with this. It took 3 1/2 yrs of him in school and struggling, but, we're getting SOMEWHERE. This is the greatest day for him...and he doesn't even know. She and I both agree...it's not ADD. That was actually the first thing said to eachother. She said that according to the paperwork the teacher and I both filled out, she doesn't see anything to lead her to believe he's ADD. So, onto Neuro and then testing at school and hopefully We'll have an answer! ![]() **UPDATE** May 20th we are going to see a developmental pediatrician for some sort of answer**
