My Daughter...
Well today Morgan had her app. with the behavioral specialist, and was diagnosed with ADHD... so i honestly don't know what i should do... for those parents who have kids with ADHD... can someone help me or give me some advice in what i should do? My daughters Dr gave me her email to have at all times if i have questions, but i would like to know what stuff any of you do or have done with your child.

I dont have kids but my little brother has ADHD and my mother fought to make sure he did not become lethargic on medication but finally she did put him on some after seeing a specialist in Boston. I am not sure what the medication was but I worked really well it did not change the person he was but it helped him focus while he was at school. He also only took it when he had school, when he was on vacation or weekends he didn't take it.

I've never had to deal with anything like this but I wish you the best of luck deciding on what is right for your daughter. I hate medication and would hate to have to decide what would be best for my kid.

Where do you live? If you are near Boston I would definitely go to Boston to see this doctor he is very good. I will try and find out what the medication that my brother took was. But it is still a bit of a soft spot for my mom so I'm not sure if she will tell me or even know.

Google diet restrictions with ADHD you really want to limit sugar intake, eliminate red dyes if you can ( they are awful for everyone ) I believe there have been studies done with other diet restrictions as well. I know there are also web support groups you can find. I'll see if I can find them when I go to work tomorrow ( I work for Child Welfare and just had to look this up for a client) Web MD is a great place to start though and you can generally find great links from there !

My son is on concerta 54mgs. For basic adhd, continue behavioral therapy, get her on the 504 plan at school if possible. It will just ensure a plan is in place at school for extra attention or some behavioral modifications if there should be any, your child stays in the general ed class room with the rest of the other kids. Keep everything structured as possible.

My son has ADHD and is on 36 MG of concerta. He does get extra help in school with the things he struggles in. He is doing so much better in school then he used to. His behavior has changed alot also. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.
