It should not be this difficult to get the things you need to care for a special needs child!! I just don't understand it!! Auriana was denied for SSI, so I sent in an appeal... her doctor told me that every baby gets denied the first time and sometimes several times!!
It's sad that there isn't something in place for special needs children to make it easier to get the things they need. PT, OT, speech, feeding tubes, feeding pumps, high calorie formula, sleep positioners, monitors..... all this costs money. I spend 2 hours at the health department this morning trying to have Auriana's WIC transferred to our new county so I could get the vouchers to pic up her formula prescription. I left there with no vouchers. They told me that we don't qualify because my husband still has not found a job, and someone has to be working for you to qualify for WIC. How in the world am I supposed to get het $30 a can formula? I was told to come back at 8:15 in the morning tomorrow to talk to the head of department. It is hard enough to pack up all the things my child needs to get to an appointment, and then to sit there for 2 hours, only to be told to come back tomorrow.... it's ridiculous!! There has got to be an easier way. Anybody else with special needs child experience something similar?
