Yep. The have to set up all his services and make sure he's in the right class, etc. If it's been a week, I'd get on their asses about it. Make sure the missing time doesn't count against him.

So both of your kids are going to the school where you had hoped they'd go? Together? That's great!!!!!
I think a week is enough time to get the IEP reviewed and transferred to their forms. Seems like that would be a whole lot easier than having to do one up from scratch. But do make sure the absences don't count against him. most school districts don't count days before actual enrollment as absences, but if they've enrolled him, they need to have a place for him.

Can you call them to get an update? I know they are busy with the start of school but they should be able to give you and estimate

I was told last wed when I turned all the paperwork that we would find out no later than monday (today). I called about an hour ago and still nothing. So, I am going to take Gabe with me in about an hour up to the school. This is getting ridiculous. He is starting to think that because of his IEP that he is being punished in being made to wait to start school. I have tried explaining in so many different ways that it's not his fault, but it's not sinking in.

I live in Mass. and work with children on IEPs. We are required by law to honor the incoming IEP, and then we have 30 school days to complete our own assessments and record reviews, and 45 days to draft a new IEP. Doesn't really sound right that they wouldn;t let him start. I know the laws vary from state to state, but it could be seen, by not allowing him to start, they they are denying him services. Again, I understand laws vary from state to state, and I am just sharing my experience and thoughts.
