EFM
so im curious how this works. i have heard that it can cause my dh to miss out on certain things because of it so I never tried to put my son on it. My dh is leaving at the end of the year for SWCC school. Hes been trying to get there for the last 2 years and I dont want to screw it up. Can some of you girls that have a EMF give me a little more information on the pros and cons to having this service? Cause if its going to cause conflicts with my dhs specwar job then I dont think I want to try for it.

May I ask what the EFM is for? The Navy can't hold him back from his career for having an EFM. It's mostly to make sure that the EFM gets the care and service that they need!

This will give you a lot of info. Basically if they determin you son is a high cat, they may send you husband to a base where you and you son can't go, but they will not hold your husband back.

my son has ODD,ADHD and anxiety. Hes currently in a residential treatment center in Austin,Tx. They are doing brain scans and stuff to see its something else. Hes been here a month already and will be here at least 4 more. We are currently stationed at NAS whidbey island. I left there so I could come see him every weekend. Im staying at a place out here in TX. Im fixing to go home to WA and the center is going to pay to fly me here and back home once a month. Its been an on going issue with my son. Ive been knowing about the program but just wanted to make sure before I did anything. Most likely when my dh graduates school we will go to stennis in bay st louis MS or little creek VA. Does having an EFM get you into housing faster in some areas with long wait lists? What are some of the perks?

Yes, depending on your category, you can get into housing faster! There is paperwork you can print out online and have his doctors/psychologists fill out. I would do it sooner than later because it can take a while to get the docs to do it and then it takes 4-6 weeks on the EFM end.

well thats great news. Ive talked to my dh about this before but I think hes just nervous that it might screw up his specwar stuff. If not though we really need to get him on this.
