Here are a few resources I have used for my daughter since we moved to San Diego, however, the programs are not only available in San Diego.
California Children's Services: http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ccs/Pages/default.aspx We use the Medical Therapy Program for my daughter's OT and PT. That particular portion is not income based, it is based on the health issues of the child. A very nice aspect of this program (for San Diego) is that your child will see an ortho twice per year, the doctors from Naval Medical Center as well as civilian doctors travel to the Units to see patients. United Cerebral Palsy: http://www.ucp.org/ucp_localsub.cfm/45/15975/15976 This link is the one for San Diego, and has a brief description of their services. However, they have sites across the US. We use the toy lending library and the software program. The ASYMCA: http://www.asymca.org/c5.html They have a variety of programs, the one in Murphy Canyon has a great social worker who runs a support group for anyone in the EFMP or anyone who is parent of an EFM. The support group is open to anyone, not just junior enlisted. It is a great place to find local resources and exchange ideas. STOMP: http://www.stompproject.org/default.asp I attended the IEP conference that they have, and I highly recommend it. It used to be called Taskmil, and now it has merged with STOMP. If you have a child who will need an IEP for any reason, you should attend one of the conferences. I can't emphasize that enough! They explain the procedures, what your rights are as a parent, and things that the school is required to do for your child. That is all I can think of for now, if I think of anything else I will add it. Hope it helps someone!

HAWAII LADIES
Name, Address and Phone Number of company:
C.A.S.E. Inc. (Comprehensive Autism Services and Education) Kimee Martinez 808-779-8883 Insurance: Maria Lyon 760-720-4964 How do you get services? (Need a doctor referral, Regional Center Referral, etc.) We are contracted through the DOH (Dept of Health) for their Early Start Program. (This is their version of the Regional Center) Or we accept insurance and private pay. Parents can view our website and if there is a service they are interested we can check to see if it is available. For example, we are still in the process of forming Friends' Club groups. However we can do social coaching and private ABA services as long as it doesnt interfere with any of the services they are receiving now. What part of Hawaii do you service? Any military bases nearby? We are on Oahu. We service all areas of Oahu. Our main area is Kaneohe which is the town the Marine Corps Base Hawaii is. Pearl Harbor is about 20 minutes over the H3. Schofield is a bit farther as well as Helemano, but we do service those areas. Do you accept Tricare? What is needed for those services? (Referral, Dr. scrip, etc) Yes. Please contact Maria Lyon for what is needed. What services are offered? ABA services, Consultation, Social Coaching, and Friends' Club (still in the process of forming groups). Is this for autistic children only? Children with developmental delays? Do they need a diagnosis? We service children who are on the spectrum, however at early ages there is not always a diagnosis. What about getting a developmental evaluation? Is there a wait list? Is it offered through your company? We do evaluations and assessments specific to autism. Depending on what kind of assessment there may be a waitlist. |
