Who has a Special Needs Child?

Do you have a special needs child? What is their diagnosis?

My 8 yr old DD has ADD and learning disabilities along with kidney reflux.

My 6 yr old DS has Sensory Integration Disorder.

Gabe's is a bit different. He is in remission for cancer. But the treatment has slowed his brains processing speed. They have said that he will always be about 2 years behind what average kids are learning in school.

DS has ADHD and most of the markers of Aspergers syndrome. Life is never dull.

Ethan has a speech delay. His special needs only requires speech therapy once a week for 45 mins.

Breanna: She is in her 2nd year of speech therapy. In the past couple months I've had to take her the dr. a couple times to see if she has ADD/ADHD. The dr. hasn't said yes or no as of right now. He wants to see her back after the school year ends. At that point he wants us to re-evaluate her. Her teacher has already filled out a new survey form. The dr. wasn't ready to put her on meds so he has us trying things like focusing on her organization and the teacher to take time out to give her more 1 on 1. I have also implemented the rewards system with her. Before I was getting notes every single day, phone calls, and requests for conferences. At the last conference her teacher said she is still getting up, going over to other people's desks, and not focusing on what she should. But she said it has gotten better. So I guess in the beginning of June we'll see.

Johnny: He is in speech therapy, too. He just started this past November and I've seen a great improvement.

Oh, Breanna is 7 and Johnny is 2 1/2.

my 4 year old has PDD-NOS...it's on the autism spectrum. He's doing quite well with early intervention! He gets speech twice a week for an hour each time and two sessions of OT a week. His IEP is next month and I am going to ask for more OT.

One of my twins has a special need sort of a different kind but. She only has one functioning kidney and a stressed(making progression everyday...Yesterday echo appt said it looking 110% better from birth)heart. And on BP meds.

Middle ds has ADHD along with some learning disabilites (auditory and visual processing issues), he is getting speech, OT, and PT.

My 4 yr old little girl has some issues. She has an abnormal chest anatomy due to a birth defect, congenital diaphragmatic hernia. It is a birth defect that occurs more often than cystic fibrosis or spina bifida, but it isn't very well known. She has only one lung, and has a tracheostomy and uses a ventilator while sleeping. She had a stroke at the age of one following a surgery, the stroke did some damage to her cerebellum. She now has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, but she is cognitively intact, although she is developmentally delayed due to the stroke and extended hospital stays. She is tube-fed due to vagal nerve damage, also due to the stroke. She gets OT, PT, ST, etc. That is the condensed version. She is also an amazing little person, very tough and very sweet.

Jacob has developmental delay he has speech therapy every week and starts seeing an occupational therapist next Friday to look more into his issues.
