What I do is put something in I won't eat by itself or don't eat enough of and add in other items I like. That way I'm getting the benefits of the item I wouldn't eat/don't eat enough of. My biggest piece of advice is make sure you make the juices to taste good enough that you'll drink it. I like to add apples, watermelon, pineapple, etc. to things like kale, spinach, parsely, cilantro, beets, etc. Beets have a very strong taste so those (unless you like the taste, DH does but I don't) you should watch how much you add. You also need to make sure you're drinking what you made quickly enough before it ferments. 4-5 days seems to be my max.
I love beet in my juice, DH says it makes it taste earthy, which I think is his nice way of saying dirt .

I'll post a few links I already have up in my browser . I juice daily, usually breakfast or an in between breakfast and lunch snack. I personally probably wouldn't do an all juice detox, I feel like doing some every day is a good place for me. I love trying new recipes and sneaking veggies in where I usually don't get them. Without juicing I never eat veggies before lunch!

How much weight are we talking?

The master cleanse has no nutritional value though. Isn't that the lemon, cayenne and maple syrup drink?

it is. But isn't the point of the lemon to encourage bowel movements, and the syrup to add calories?

So how exactly would it work if you incorporated the master cleanse with really clean eating?

I want to say the "correct" way to do the master cleanse is to just drink the juice and not eat at all.

I just sort of want to jump start my body into being healthier.
That's my plan too A juice or two in the morning and then a juice cleanse day on the weekends when DH and I don't have to worry about taking a bunch of juice to work.

That sounds freakin' awful There is very little chance a person doing that cleanse could get all the nutritional value that they need to function. It'd be better to just drink lemon water throughout the day.

I did a 3-day juice cleanse a few weeks ago. Mine was based on 4 large juices per day. I have type 1 diabetes so unfortunately I had to eat a snack or two in addition to drinking the juices just to keep my blood sugar from continuously crashing, but overall, it was a good experience. If you drink caffeine on a daily basis, be sure to either ween yourself off before hand or find a caffeinated, unsweetened tea that you like (I forgot this step on the first day. I usually drink 1 cup of coffee per day and ended up with a massive headache that evening).

I make my own juices with a juicer. Cost wise, it was a lot cheaper than buying juices and I got to adjust the ingredients based on food allergies and preferences. I never really got hungry so having to eat snacks was actually really difficult. By the end of the 2nd day though, I had a ton of energy and got to FaceTime with DB that night. He made some really positive comments on changes in my skin and energy that I hadn't noticed and now he wants to try it when he gets back

If you're interested in recipes, send me a message! I'm a health education and nutrition specialist so my recipes are based on nutritional needs (and taste).

I juiced a couple months ago for 4 days. The first day was the hardest.... But after day two I felt great! I had more energy, I slept AMAZING!, my headaches went away, my stomach didnt feel bloated (I usually bloat after I eat)...
I drank 6-8 glasses of juice a day and did lots of carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, spinach, oranges, celery...... anything and everything. I even did beets once YUCK! At nights I always drank a homemade almond milk (1 cup of almonds in hot water for 2 hours.... then blend with water, cinnamon and agave nectar)... sometimes I would spice it up and throw in some strawberries. I drained my milk bc I would choke on the shells.
I had to stop bc I lost 8lbs in the 4 days and I started at 125 but I try and do it at least once a week on a day I am not doing anything bc you go to the bathroom like crazy!
